About the Event
This course is specifically aimed at Trust Grade Doctors to practice core clinical skills in a supported environment with the hospitals Clinical Skills team.
The skills in the session will be based on the core procedures listed on the Certificate of Readiness to Enter Speciality Training (CREST form) so will be perfect for anyone currently working on completing this ahead of speciality training applications.
Please note that time will not permit all skills to be covered and below is only an example of the types of skill which will be covered.
1 Venepuncture
2 IV cannulation
3 Prepare and administer IV medications and injections
4 Arterial puncture in an adult
5 Blood culture from peripheral sites
6 Intravenous infusion including the prescription of fluids
7 Intravenous infusion of blood and blood products
8 Injection of local anaesthetic to skin
9 Injection – subcutaneous (eg insulin or LMW heparin)
10 Injection – Intramuscular
11 Perform and interpret an ECG
12 Perform and interpret peak flow
13 Urethral catheterisation (male)
14 Urethral catheterisation (female)
15 Airway care including simple adjuncts
Spaces are limited so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
